Proper fire stream use will allow for quick, safe, and efficient fire suppression operations. Most engine companies will have several nozzle types on various types of hosebeds, each intended for specific types of operations. Tip pressure, flow rates, and manpower requirements for the safe operation of the nozzles are required knowledges of suppression personnel. You must be able to select the right nozzle for the job at hand. Major differences exist between combination and smooth bore nozzles as do the applications for them. Take some time to review your nozzles and the correct use for each type you carry.

He currently serves as Battalion Chief / Director of Training & Safety with the Pleasantview Fire Protection District (www.plvw.org) and is the Director of Training for Southwest United Fire Districts (www.sufd.org). In these capacities, he is responsible for the design, implementation and coordination of in-service training activities as well as a full-service fire training academy program.
