Custom Composites Announces Executive Management Promotions and Building Acquisition

Custom Composites, an Oklahoma City-based fire apparatus tank manufacturer and new FAMA member, is proud to announce executive management promotions and a new building acquisition. After fifteen years as President, Russell Boyd has announced his retirement, and former Vice President, Jake Reynolds, has been promoted to President. Zach Boyd, formerly Production Manager, has been promoted to Vice President of Production, and Lori Bigley, formerly a designer in the Engineering Department, has been promoted to Vice President of Systems and Design.

After 43 years in its current 30,000 square foot facility, Custom Composites will be moving into an 84,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Oklahoma City and expects to be fully operational in that space by yearend 2015. “With the growth we’ve seen in both our fire apparatus and industrial fiberglass manufacturing divisions, we simply had to find a bigger space,” said Mr. Reynolds.

Mr. Reynolds, a Certified Public Accountant, joined Custom Composites in 2014 after establishing a career in banking, private equity and public accounting. With a passion for manufacturing and a unique outside perspective, Mr. Reynolds is endeavoring to elevate all aspects of Custom Composites’s production processes, quality and financial systems. “This is ultimately about improving timeliness, quality and the customer experience,” said Mr. Reynolds.

Ms. Bigley joined Custom Composites in 2007 as a designer in the Engineering Department. She is now being promoted to Vice President – Systems and Design. In this new role, Ms. Bigley will be responsible for overseeing the Engineering Department’s role in designing custom fire apparatus tanks. She is a graduate of The University of Oklahoma’s College of Architecture.

After proudly serving his country in Afghanistan with the Oklahoma National Guard, Mr. Boyd joined Custom Composites in 2012 as a technician in the polypropylene fire apparatus division. After working in all manufacturing divisions, he was promoted to Production Manager and, in his new role, will continue to improve both quality and efficiency in the manufacturing process. Mr. Boyd is a current candidate in the ACMA’s Certified Composites Technician (Open Molding) program.

Organized in 1972, Custom Composites manufactures both polypropylene and FRP composite fire apparatus tanks, along with a host of custom products used in industrial fiberglass applications. Custom Composites is a wholly-owned portfolio company of MetaFund, a community-oriented private equity firm which has a mission to create and retain manufacturing jobs.
