EDGARTOWN, MA – Emergency Film Group has revised and released its award winning training film “Pesticides,” which has important information for emergency personnel who may respond to an incident involving these hazardous substances. It is also appropriate for workers who handle pesticides and require right-to-know training. “Pesticides” combines realistic training scenarios with exciting historic footage of a pesticide incident that poisoned more than 50 miles of the Rhine River.
The program describes emergency response procedures for a spill, leak or fire where pesticides are thought to be present. It provides information about the hazard properties of pesticides, including both inert and active ingredients, and medical operations for victims of pesticide poisoning. Also discussed are EPA labelling and communication systems, DOT placarding, extinguishing agents, protective actions, run-off issues, decontamination, and clean-up. “Pesticides” helps incident commanders establish priorities in dealing with a pesticide emergency and evaluate the factors involved in deciding whether to let a fire involving pesticides burn.
The film has been adopted by the International Association of Fire Fighters as their standard for managing pesticide incidents. “Pesticides” is the winner of the CINE Golden Eagle award from the Council of International Events and a Certificate of Merit from the Chicago Film Festival.
Included with the package is a Resource CD-Rom with a customizable PowerPoint presentation that can be used by the Instructor as the basis of a training seminar, interactive testing materials, and a number of references in .pdf format that will enhance a training seminar.
