The NATIONAL FIRE PROTECTION ASSOCIATION (NFPA) awarded the 1999 Harry C. Bigglestone Award for Excellence in Communication to Dr. Brian Y. Lattimer of Hughes Associates, Inc., Professor Uri Vandsburger of Virginia Polytechnic Institute, and Dr. Richard J. Roby of Combustion Science and Engineering, Inc. The trio wrote “Carbon Monoxide Levels in Structure Fire: Effects of Wood in the Upper Layers of a Post-Flashover Compartment Fire,” which appeared in Fire Technology.
