SOLBERG Expands Product Development and Sales Staff

The Solberg Company, the world’s foremost innovator of firefighting foam concentrates and systems hardware, announced today the appointment of industry veterans Mark Siem as Research Chemist — Product Development and Jim Schwander as Eastern Region Sales Manager (U.S.).

Entering the fire protection industry in 2007, Mr. Siem is one of six degreed chemists within the company responsible for product development.

In his new role as Research Chemist, Mark will research and develop new and improved firefighting foam concentrates. Conduct full scale fire and laboratory tests for global product certification standards. Conduct foam analysis testing in support of quality assurance and manufacturing functions and provide support to technical service and training service functions and sales for special hazard foam concentrates and fixed foam systems.

Mark holds a BS degree in biology from Michigan State University and a BS degree in chemistry from the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay. He is also a member of the American Chemistry Society.

Mr. Schwander entered the fire protection industry in 1982 serving in various technical, sales and business development capacities. A seasoned special hazards and fire sprinkler practitioner, Jim brings more than thirty-two years’ experience to Solberg having started his career as a design and estimating project manager.

In his new role Jim will be responsible for sales and business development in the states of Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Vermont and Virginia

Jim holds an Associate’s degree in Applied Science – Fire Protection Engineering Technology from Delaware Technical and Community College.

Solberg, the firefighting foam products division of Amerex Corporation is based in Green Bay, Wisconsin with operations in Bergen, Norway and Sydney, Australia.  The company has been involved with the manufacture of firefighting foams since the early-1970s.  Solberg’s unique technology and foam systems hardware is preferred by customers in the aerospace, aviation, chemical, defense, energy, fire services, marine, mining, oil and gas, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, pipeline, solvent & coatings and utilities industries.
