Smoke Alarm Dismantled Prior to Fatal St. Paul Fire

Family members identified the 30-year-old man who died in a fire at an apartment in St. Paul early Sunday morning, reports kstp.com

The St. Paul Fire Department and emergency crews responded early Sunday morning to an apartment fire on Glendale Street in St. Paul.

Chris Meusburger, of St. Paul, was found dead inside his apartment that was set ablaze.

Fire officials said the lone smoke detector had been dismantled and put in a closet prior to the incident. Officials stress the importance of working smoke alarms to save lives.

No other injuries have been reported.
