Shindaiwa recalls backpack blowers and chain saws

Shindaiwa Inc. (Tualatin, Oregon), in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is recalling approximately 18,500 Model EB-45 backpack blowers and 4,970 Model 300S chain saws. The tools` fuel tanks could leak, presenting a possible chemical burn or fire hazard.

The red blower is mounted on a black metal backpack frame. The brand name and model number are printed in the center of the white fuel tank. The red chain saw has a gray guide bar and the model number printed on the pull-start housing. The tools were sold nationwide from April 1992 to June 1995.

Owners of these tools are to return them immediately to any authorized Shindaiwa servicing dealer, who will fit them with a redesigned fuel tank at no charge. For more information, call Shindaiwa at (800) 521-7733.
