Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge World Challenge XXIV Hits Montgomery, Alabama

Paul O. Davis along with Mayor Todd Strange at the podium.

This morning, the Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge kicked off its Fourth Day of competition with a press conference hosted by Montgomery (AL) Mayor Todd Strange. All three of the network affiliates were present.

Mayor Strange read a proclamation (seen below) and presented a plaque to Dr. Paul Davis, creator of the Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge. He then recognized the accomplishments of Ryan Fitzpatrick, the new World Record holder. The previous record of 1:19.2 has been held by Bob Russell of Overland Park (KS) for 14 years. Many thought it impossible to equal or exceed this landmark accomplishment, but on Wednesday afternoon, Ryan crushed the mark to 1:17.51.

Competition in the Wild Card category continues today with finals starting on ESPN3 tomorrow (Friday) afternoon for the Individual and Team categories and Saturday with the Relay Championships.
