Public safety demonstration at Laguardia Airport

Officials from the Port Authority, FDNY, New York State Police, the New Jersey Fire Sprinkler Advisory Board and the Port Authority Medical Team will team up for the 9th Annual LGA Public Safety Day on Sept. 28.

This annual event, which will feature fire, medical and automotive safety demonstrations. will take place from 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM at Hangar # 7 (East End Road) at LaGuardia Airport in New York City.

The 9th annual LGA Public Safety Day helps local employees and the community learn about personal and public safety, including how to respond to emergencies and approach every situation with a safety conscious mind.

Also, with National Fire Prevention Week approaching, educating the public on the dangers of residential fires is of the utmost importance. Fires in residential structures represent 82% of all fires, accounting for nearly 3,000 civilian deaths and 13,000 injuries. Participants will also receive helpful tips for ensuring their families and residences are safe.

On hand will be the New Jersey Fire Sprinkler Advisory Board Burn Trailer, a demonstration tool which physically simulates the action time for sprinklers to extinguish a fire. The total demonstration lasts 20 minutes.
