Primary Flow Signal Offers ACAF System

Primary Flow Signal, Inc. (PFS), a designer and manufacturer of innovative, durable, and accurate flow-metering solutions for municipal, industrial, oil & gas, EGR, and power generation applications globally, has recently created a new operating business unit, ACAF® Systems-PFS Fire Suppression Group, LLC.

Based upon the unique technology and designs developed and patented by David B. Munroe, Chief Operating Officer and Technology Director, of ACAF® Systems-PFS Fire Suppression Group, LLC, this Factory Mutual Approved fire suppression equipment with unparalleled, industry leading performance characteristics and exceptional “green technology” benefits is now commercially available, supported by the marketing, sales, design, manufacturing, and distribution capabilities, as well as financial capacity of the PFS business platform.

ACAF® Systems-PFS Fire Suppression Group, LLC focuses on compressed air foam (CAF) systems both self-contained and fixed water supply, using its unique patented CAF mixing chamber and nozzles. The new technologies provide a state of the art delivery system with highly enhanced fire extinguishing performance characteristics for the foam suppression agent.  This provides a substantial advancement over the traditional longstanding foam fire extinguishing equipment systems that have been unchanged for years.

According to Bruce E. Briggs, President and CEO of the Primary Flow Signal, Inc. business platform and of the newly formed PFS — Fire Suppression Group, “the key fire protection markets served by this new operating unit are the Power, Oil & Gas, Aviation, Mining, transportation, and Petro-Chemical Industries.”

David B. Munroe, COO of the PFS-Fire Suppression Group and Inventor of the ACAF System, stated that “compressed air foam is a major advancement in foam technology that will change the way industry deals with flammable liquid fire hazards.”

CAF is a homogenous foam produced by the combination of water, foam concentrate, and air or nitrogen under pressure. A unique fire fighting foam agent, CAF, extinguishes the fire by establishing a blanket of foam on the flammable surface. The blanket creates a separation of oxygen and heat from the burning fuel, extinguishing the fire and preventing re-flash”.

CAF’s ability to reduce heat contributes to the effectiveness of this agent. CAF created with nitrogen provides an even more effective blanket for superior re-flash protection as the incorporation of nitrogen into the CAF mixture enhances the fire suppression capabilities due to its inherent nature as an inert gas. This, combined with the unique, Factory Mutual Approved delivery system manufactured by ACAF® Systems-PFS Fire Suppression Group, LLC provides a total package for effective fire suppression.
