NFPA “Learn Not to Burn&#174” awards spark education program

NFPA “Learn Not to Burn®” awards spark education program

Sixty towns and cities ranging from small rural communities to major urban centers throughout the United States and Canada will receive “Learn Not to Burn®” fire safety education materials and technical support to establish or enhance the implementation of the program in local elementary schools and day care centers. A designated program manager, a “Learn Not to Burn Champion” will oversee the program in the community. “Champions” were trained in a workshop conducted by fire and burn prevention education experts in April. Each community will receive additional on-site guidance and support from NFPA fire safety education representatives during 1995.

Recipients were selected through an application process in which every fire department in the U.S. and Canada was invited to participate. More information is available from the NFPA at (617)984-7288.
