Quincy, MA, June 27, 2001 – The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) will offer “Meeting OSHA Requirements with NFPA Codes and Standards,” a conference designed to help general industry and healthcare safety managers comply with regulations from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), October 17-19, 2001, at the Hilton Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport, Bloomington, MN.
The conference will feature presentations from NFPA and OSHA. Sessions will focus on workplace safety standards. Topics will include means of egress, electrical safety in the workplace, hazardous materials, interim life safety measures, and inspection and maintenance of fire protection equipment.
“Many of our codes and standards resonate with those set forth by OSHA. NFPA and OSHA share a common goal –enhancing safety though best practice,” said Guy Colonna, P.E., NFPA’s assistant vice president, fire protection applications and chemical engineering. “The only way to ensure safety in the workplace is by equipping safety managers with the most accurate, up-to-date information on regulations.”
Formed in 1971, OSHA issues standards and rules requiring employers to provide workers with safe and healthful workplaces, and it performs workplace inspections to ensure compliance.
