New Fire Safety Group

New Fire Safety Group

Fire safety is the aim of a new non-profit consumer group now operating in Washington, D.C., the Citizens’ Committee for Fire Protection. They will work to reduce firerelated death and injury through better building designs, safer consumer products and greater public involvement in fire safety planning.

They intend to publicize the legal liability of architects, engineers and builders for fire-related deaths and injuries along with a handbook for attorneys who want to sue negligent parties. A second focus will be on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission’s administration of the Flammable Fabrics Act. The CCFP feels that the commission is not using its authority sufficiently. The group has an office at 1511 K St., N.W., Suite 1033, Washington, D.C. 20005.
