DAVE EISENBIESZ, an 18-year veteran of the Arvada (CO) Volunteer Fire Department, has been appointed the department’s fire chief. Hisenbeisz joined the AFD in 1974; served as quartermaster, lieutenant, and captain; was appointed assistant chief for all fire prevention activities in 1989; and founded the department’s home inspection program and public safety day. The Arvada Fire Department is the largest all-volunteer department in the West.

At its annual election, the Sierra Madre Volunteer Fire Department elected Fire Chief EDWARD D. TRACY to a seventh term as the department’s chief. A 24-year veteran of the volunteer fire service, Tracy also has served as a captain of the Valley Stream (NY) Fire Department. He currently is employed as executive director of contingency planning for Paramount Pictures Corporation.

Fire Chief Jack Wesselhoff has announced that the OAK LAWN (IL) FlRE DEPARTMENT recently acquired a Class One fire insurance rating issued by ISO Commercial Risk Services, Inc., making it the second Class Onerated community in the state of Illinois. The fire department and other related village agencies underwent extensive evaluation in October 1992, at which time each agencyscored 90 percent or better of allowable grading, resulting in the village being upgraded from its Class Two rating.

Fire Chief JOHN SHARRY has been named to chair the National Fire Protection Association’s Technical Committee on Fire Service) Occupational Safety and Health. He has served on the Association’s Standards Council since 1989. Sharry has been Alameda * (CA) County’s Mutual Aid Coordinator for the past several years. In addition, he has* cooperated with Lawrence Livermore scien-a tists in developing protective clothing and equipment used by the laboratory firefighters to fight wildland fires. A University* of Maryland graduate, Sharry earned his certification as a chief fire officer from the California State Fire Marshal’s Office. He has served as fire chief marshal in Prince William County.
