MI Residents Escape Apartment Fire

Alerted by a fire alarm, two Ypsilanti (MI) families were able to escape from a fire at their apartments yesterday.

The cause of the afternoon fire at Aspen Chase apartments is still under investigation, but a fire official said it’s believe to have been caused by an electrical issue involving a box fan in an apartment living room, according to The Ypsilanti Courier (http://bit.ly/1ckBUsl).

Firefighters were able to get the fire under control in about 20-25 minutes. The Ypsilanti Township Fire Department requested a full call back of its off-duty firefighters as well as mutual aid from Ann Arbor, Pittsfield Township, Superior Township, and Ypsilanti firefighters.

There were no injuries to civilians or firefighting personnel.
