Fifteen volunteers from the Indy American Red Cross, 10 deputy fire marshals, and eight firefighters from the Indianapolis Fire Department (IFD) canvassed the area after a motivating send off from Director of Public Safety Troy Riggs. The director was on hand to re-iterate the importance of the blitz effort, the value of the community partnership between Indy ARC and the IFD, and to thank the volunteers and firefighters for their hard work in keeping Indy families safe. As a note, many homes visited did not have any smoke detectors at all.

IFD Chief Ernest Malone joined one of the teams for several of the installations and praised the efforts of the Fire and Life Safety Division for continued outreach into the community.
