Firefighters spent hours battling a fire that occurred at a scrap metal yard yesterday in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
According to a report on PennLive.com (http://bit.ly/UmLmEH), fire officials believe the fire was started by lightning. It began after 1:35 a.m., and firefighters finally brought it under control around 3:30 p.m.
Harrisburg Chief Brian Enterline said the fire involved a large amount of metal scrap, which consisted of various types of things–from cars to tractors to bikes to lawn mowers. Fire Engineering Technical Editor Glenn Corbett was at the scene and reported a lot of plastic burning.
There were no injuries to firefighters or employees.
