One firefighter was seriously injured early Tuesday while operating at a fast-moving three-alarm dwelling fire in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. Two other firefighters were also hurt in the incident.

The fire erupted in a windowless basement in a three-story home at around 3 a.m., according to NBC News (http://bit.ly/10K6e7L).

A Mayday situation arose when a firefighter became disoriented while inside the building; he was sent to the hospital. Two other firefighters also were injured.

NJ. com says (http://bit.ly/13tcqFg) the firefighter got injured after he got trapped on the second floor and had to be rescued by one of the ladder crews on site. The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

WABC reported (http://bit.ly/X9DvdD) that heavy flames tore through both stories of the home and then shot through the roof.

Perth Amboy is a city in Middlesex County, located just south of Staten Island, New York.
