FCIA Releases Firestop Containment Worker Education Program and Manual

The Firestop Contractors International Association (FCIA) is dedicated to the education and promotion of the importance of Life Safety Firestop Systems and Effective Compartmentation to interested parties all over the world. The first step to widespread implementation begins with the education of the specialized Firestop Containment Workers performing this work.

The FCIA, celebrating its 15th Anniversary, is strongly focused on promoting knowledge and awareness of the importance of Life Safety and Firestopping and Effective Compartmentation all over the world, as well as educating both the Firestop Containment Worker and the building owners and managers on the importance of installation by specialized firestop contractors to a concise tested and listed system. Once the building has been delivered to the end-user building owner and manager, the need for continual maintenance begins in order to ensure continued fire resistance and smoke resistant compartmentation performance should the need arise due to fire.

In an effort to remain the leading authority in the Firestopping and Effective Compartmentation industry, FCIA developed a Firestop Containment Worker Education program to elevate the quality of workmanship provided for this specialized trade. With the release of this comprehensive education program, members will have access to an extensivetraining program and manual for their workforce that results in a thorough working knowledge of the skill and precision required for the specialized trade of Firestopping and Effective Compartmentation.

The Firestop Containment Worker Education Program (FSCW-EP) is comprised of two parts: the FCIA Firestop Manual of Practice, Firestop Containment Worker Edition (FSCW-M) and the Firestop Containment Worker Instructor Edition, which is the complete Education Program (FSCW-IE).

The FCIA Manual of Practice, Firestop Containment Worker Edition is the handbook for the firestop field worker. The practices and procedures that the firestop field worker must know are outlined in the body of the manual. Both FCIA Members and Non-Members may purchase a copy of the FSCW-M by visiting http://www.fcia.org/articles/mop.htm.

The Firestop Containment Worker Instructor Program (FSCW-IE) is the complete curriculum necessary for an all-inclusive education and training program. The program includes a DVD with numerous PowerPoint presentations, instructional guides and quizzes, as well as hours of instructional video meant to provide education for the firestop field workforce.

The FSCW-IE also contains a copy of the FCIA Firestop Manual of Practice, Firestop Containment Worker Edition. This educational  curriculum is only available to FCIA Members and may be purchased by visiting http://www.fcia.org/articles/mop.htm
