Cook Biotech Wins Sprinky Award from Brenneco Fire Protection

Brenneco Fire Protection is proud to announce that Cook Biotech is the third recipient of its Sprinky Award. This quarterly award is bestowed on institutions or businesses that have gone above and beyond to safeguard their people and organization from the threat of a fire.

“Fire protection is consistent with our values regarding the safety of our employees and our patients,” says Joe Ely, director of operations at Cook Biotech in West Lafayette, Indiana. “We appreciate Brenneco’s technical expertise in keeping the system functional.”

Randy Peters, maintenance administrator at Cook Biotech, works closely with Brenneco Fire Protection to help him make sure the 55,000-square-foot company he maintains runs smoothly and safely. Cook Biotech’s current two-story facility is composed of office space, research labs, shipping and receiving areas, a cafeteria, an exercise room, and manufacturing areas. Peters handles many of his maintenance responsibilities internally, but when a job is beyond what he can execute, he turns to an outsourced partner.

“Since I started at Cook Biotech in 2006, Brenneco has carried out annual inspections of our sprinkler system and backflow tests. Last year, they started doing quarterly tests,” Peters says. “One reason Brenneco comes is because I know them and I know they do good work. Consistently carrying out fire sprinkler system inspections is a vital part of a strong fire protection program.”

“We are happy to recognize Cook Biotech for its diligence and commitment to fire safety,” says Eric Flora, owner of Brenneco Fire Protection. “Oftentimes, doing what’s right goes unnoticed. The Sprinky Award is Brenneco’s way of recognizing those who are doing what’s right.”

Past recipients of the Sprinky Award include the City of Lafayette and Phi Gamma Delta fraternity at Purdue University.
