The Guideline for Fire Protection in Chemical, Petrochemical and Hydrocarbon Processing Facilities, intended to be a comprehensive tool new fire protection engineers, nonfire protection engineers engaged in fire protection projects, and project managers can use to recognize, understand, and manage fire hazards, is expected to be available the first quarter of 2003.
The Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS) of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers has selected Risk, Reliability and Safety Engineering (RRS), a process safety and risk management firm in Houston, Texas, to develop the guideline. RRS will work in conjunction with Hughes Associates and Loss Control Associates to assemble a group of national and international fire protection experts to participate in the development process.
