80 Alternators—A new 20-page, general product catalog is now available from the Leece-Neville division of Sheller-Glohe Corporation. The illustrated publication features alternators designed for use in fire apparatus. Also featured are transformer/ rectifier units designed for vehicles with 12-volt electrical systems and 24-volt starters. The catalog also highlights Leece-Neville’s 12 and 24-volt starters, regulators, relays, solenoids, drives, magnetic switches and factory manufactured components.

81 Helmets—An illustrated data sheet, No. 0600-09, on the Topgard fireman’s helmet is available from Mine Safety Appliances Company. The rigid, lightweight shell is high-pressure injection molded of polycarbonate. Its uniridge construction provides impact-resistance and meets ANSI Standard Z89.1 for Class D firemen’s helmets. The helmet’s features include an optional shield holder, which is pre-tapped to accept a screw-on shield and a D-ring assembly. Mine Safety is also offering data sheet 0600-15 on the Foldback faceshield. When used with the Topgard helmet, the faceshield protects the eyes and face from flying particles, sprays of hazardous liquids and distracting glare.

82 Air Purification Systems—A 24-page booklet, “How to Purify Low Pressure Breathing Air: Equipment and Methods,” has been released by Deltech Engineering, Inc. Written for those concerned with the quality of low pressure breathing air, the booklet describes types of compressed breathing air systems and supplied-air respirators, common compressed air contaminants, purification equipment and the elements of a typical low-pressure breathing air system. Deltech has also issued Bulletin 200L, a six-page product bulletin on its complete line of Del-Monox compressed air purifiers for supplied-air and self-contained breathing systems. Included are detailed illustrations, performance specifications, cartridge life charts and complete selection guides.

83 Training Aids—A new catalog of CPR manikins, simulated wounds and other first aid equipment and training aids has been published by Simulaids, Inc. A highlight of the catalog is the addition of CPR Cathy II, a newborn infant manikin which is wired with indicator lights and audio signal. The new baby has an airway passage and an internal lung. The catalog also devotes over three pages to a variety of simulated wounds packaged in mass disaster drill kits of various sizes.

84 Water Turbine Pump—Gilkes Pumps Inc. has literature available on its portable turbo pump which is designed to handle the transfer of flammable liquids from one tanker to another in emergency situations. The self-priming pump is coupled to a water motor. The motor is powered by water at any pressure between 50 and 140 psi. As water is taken from the tank on a pumper, the exhaust water can be returned to the tank. When it is taken from a hydrant, the return water can be used to flush the street or adjacent area.
