Firefighter Killed in Louisiana Fire Truck Crash

A Louisiana firefighter was killed in a fire truck crash Monday night. A report said he was not wearing a seat belt.

KTBS reported that (http://bit.ly/1qOcMyn) a 1999 Freightliner fire apparatus, registered to Bienville Fire District 7, entered a curve and drifted off the roadway. The driver, Captain Robert B. Thomas, 52, overcorrected, crossed the center line and crashed into a ditch. The rig overturned, ejecting the driver and pinning him under the vehicle.

Thomas was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Bienville Parish Coroner’s Office.

The crash is under investigation.
