Fire Apparatus Camera Captures 1920s New York City Streets

The Fire Department of New York (FDNY) has released a video which shows unique views of the streets of the city in the 1920s.

The film from 1927 displays a call coming into the a Manhattan fire station and some firefighters battling the flame. John Kenlon, the chief of FDNY at the time, filmed on the way to the fire, revealing roadsters, horse-drawn wagons, trolleys, buses, automobiles, and other assorted conveyances.

Traffic jams appear to force the drivers to use the sidewalks and this is reflected in the footages as commotion. The dazzling journey of the Kenlon concludes in the warehouse which is in flames. Then, the fire was extinguished.
