Canadian Volunteer Firefighter Killed in Apparatus Accident

A firefighter from the Nipissing Township Volunteer Fire Department was killed in an accident west of Powassan, Ontario, Canada, while responding to a call, according to a report from CBC News and Cottage Country Now.

The report indicated that authoriites are not certain why the fire truck crashed into a ditch off of Highway 534 at approximately 9:30 a.m. EST on Tuesday morning, but confirmed that the accident is under investigation. Officials confirmed in the report that only one person was in the fire truck and that no other vehicles were involved in the accident.

Authorities have not yet identified the victim.
