The North Spartanburg A.F.D. of Spartanburg, SC, recently purchased three Dash custom pumpers from Pierce Manufacturing, Inc. These all-red units are equipped with Waterous 1,250-gpm pumps and 1,000-gallon booster tanks. Other features are: two 2 1/2-inch LH discharges, two 2 1/2-inch rear discharges, two 2 1/2-inch RH discharges, a deluge gun, two 1 1/2-inch crosslays, and one 2 1/2-inch crosslay. These new units are mounted on a Pierce Dash chassis with a crew cab and are powered by a 6V92TA engine with an Allison HT-740 transmission. Their wheelbases are 174 inches.

The Lee's Summit, MO, Fire Department has accepted delivery of a Grumman Rescue-Pumper. The apparatus is equipped with a two-stage, 1,500-gpm Waterous pump and a 600-gallon booster tank. It has a deck pipe and a separate portable master stream device. It carries 1,000 feet of 4-inch hose, two 1 3/4-inch preconnects, and one 2 1/2-inch preconnect. Rescue equipment includes a hydraulic power unit, power spreaders, power cutters, an extricator kit, and an air chisel.

The Pleasantview Fire Protection District of Countryside, IL, has placed in service a new rear-mount aerial ladder built by Emergency-One of Ocala, FL. The unit features a Hurricane chassis. The unit is fully aluminum with a 110-foot ladder. It has a Detroit 8V71 diesel engine and Allison automatic transmission.

The East Aurora, NY, Fire Department recently placed in service this unit built by Saulsbury of Tully, NY. Mounted on a Mack R-611FC chassis with an 18-foot Cardinal Model box, It has a 197-inch wheelbase. The body is 12-gauge galvanized steel with three 16-inch aluminum doors and a 78-inch interior walking height. It is powered by a Mack Maxidyne 285-hp motor and Allison four-speed HT 740 automatic transmission. Equipment includes a four-bottle 2,400 psi cascade system, 15 kw Harrison hydraulic generator, six fixed 500-watt quartz floodlights, and two 1,500-watt telescopic quartz floodlights.

The City of Memphis has placed into service a fireboat made by MonArk Boat Company of Monticello, AR. The fireboat, MonArk’s Model 2609, will be used by the Memphis Fire Department in responding to waterfront fires and emergencies on the Mississippi River, The firefighting systems are powered by Hale Model 60FJ-M pump, rated at 1,200 gpm. The boat is equipped with a forward deck monitor, Elkhart Model 294-11X rated at 1,100 gpm. The boat contains a 100-gallon foam tank capable of discharging 3% or 6% concentrate through the forward monitor or spill protection nozzles.
