The Naperville, IL, Fire Department purchased an Emergency One demo pumper with a four-door Spartan, Gladiator, 10-man aluminum cab. The pumper is equipped with a Hale 1,500-gpm single-stage pump and a 750-gallon water tank. Powering the unit is a 6V 92TA Detroit diesel engine and Allison automatic transmission.

The City of Charlotte, NC, took delivery of a Grumman ATO 55-foot telescopic water tower. This unit is built on a Duplex D-350 canopy cab chassis with a diesel engine and an automatic transmission. It is equipped with a two-stage, 1,000-gpm Waterous pump and a 500-gallon hot dipped galvanized tank.

A new 105-foot aerial unit from Pierce Manufacturing Inc. is designed to be one of the most reliable products on the aerial market today. Featuring its own Pierce Arrow cab and chassis, the unit is equipped with a Pierce high strength steel ladder that provides precise elevation from -6° to +75°. Also available in 55and 75-foot lengths, the unit is equipped with a 200-gallon water tank, Waterous 1,250-gpm single-stage pump, two four-inch inlets to aerial and five 2 1/2-inch discharges. Powered by a 8V71TA Detroit diesel engine with a HT740 Allison transmission, the unit also features full disc brakes, 59.520-pound GVW, two 1 1/2-inch crosslays, 163 feet of ground ladders, and full compartmentation on both sides.

Rescue Squad Company 1 of the Denver, CO, Fire Department is operating an apparatus designed by its members. The truck was built by Super Vac of Loveland, CO, on a Mack R chassis with a six-cylinder Detroit diesel engine and HT 740D Allison automatic transmission. It has two-man bench seats facing each other. The unit mounts an Onan series CCKB, 3,600-rpm, 10,000-watt, air cooled, gasoline generator. It has two roof mounted light towers, each consisting of six 500-watt quartz lamps, elevating to the height of 16 feet above ground hydraulically. They are capable of a 360° rotation by electric power. Electrical equipment for the lights includes two 175-foot cords on reels, each with 30-amp breakers, one electrical outlet with a 20-amp breaker on each side, and four sealed beam 500-watt floodlights (portable). Special equipment includes four smoke ejectors, a Hurst tool, Vetter bags, remote MSA air mask with 75 feet of hose, cutting torch, air chisel, etc.
