Apparatus Deliveries: The Bath, NY Fire Department replaced a minipumper and a tanker

The Bath (NY) Fire Department replaced a minipumper and a tanker with this CRIMSON pumper/tanker. Captain Corey Zydanowicz says the strategy has increased pumping and water supply capabilities while reducing maintenance and replacement costs.

  • INTERNATIONAL 7600 chassis with 244-inch wheelbase and two-seat extended cab;
  • CUMMINS ISM 425-hp diesel engine with ALLISON 3000 EVS automatic transmission;
  • WATEROUS CS single-stage, 1,250-gpm pump with six-inch front intake, two two-inch crosslays, and one three-inch rear preconnect;
  • two HALE portable pumps and OTTERBEIN Chief floating pump;
  • PRO POLY 1,800-gallon water tank and three 10-inch NEWTON dump valves with extensions;
  • two 2,100-gallon FOL-DA-TANKS on ZICO racks;
  • ROBINSON roll-up compartment doors and four wheel well sleeves for spare SCBA cylinders; and
  • seven FEDERAL scene lights (above crosslays and at sides and rear of body).

The Wapakoneta (OH) Fire Department uses this AMERICAN LaFRANCE pumper as a first-out unit for fires and EMS backup, explains Chief Kendall Krites. The vehicle was designed to fit into an historic firehouse that has height, width, and length limitations.

  • UPF 750-gallon water, 30-gallon Class A foam, and 50-gallon Class B foam tanks;
  • ROBINSON roll-up compartment doors and four wheel well sleeves for spare SCBA cylinders; and
  • light and power with ONAN 10-kw hydraulic generator, two FRC floodlights behind cab, and HANNAY electric cord reel.

The Kingfisher (OK) Fire Department designed this PIERCE Contender pumper for urban use and specified a large water tank to serve nonhydranted areas, explains Chief John Crawford. The booster reel is mounted low for ease of operation, and the top-mount pump panel affords better visibility for the operator.

The Coeur d’Alene (ID) Fire Department designed this BOISE MOBILE EQUIPMENT Type 6 wildland pumper to address the increase in urban interface areas in its jurisdiction, according to Chief Kenny Gabriel. The unit also works in conjunction with other mutual aid departments.

  • GMC 5500 4 × 4 chassis with 152-inch wheelbase and three-seat cab;
  • GMC Duramax 300-hp diesel engine with ALLISON 1000 EVS automatic transmission;
  • WATEROUS E 511 single-stage, 100- to 300-gpm pump on skid with BRIGGS & STRATTON 26.5-hp diesel engine, HYPRO Foam Pro 1600 system, three 1½-inch preconnects, and one-inch HANNAY booster reel;
  • UPF 350-gallon water and 20-gallon foam tanks;
  • ROBINSON roll-up compartment doors; and
  • stainless-steel grille guard.

The Baltimore City (MD) Fire Department uses three FOSTER RESCUE PRODUCTS miniambulances for use at special events and in pedestrian areas around the Inner Harbor. Chief Lloyd Carter says the units tend to patients’ needs and transport them to a full-size ambulance.

The Baton Rouge (LA) Fire Department specified a platform for this FERRARA ladder truck to enhance rescue efforts at high-rise buildings, explains Barry Mounce, administrative assistant. The unit responds to fires and special calls.
