APPARATUS DELIVERIES

The Calgary Fire Department in Alberta, Canada, uses this SVI TRUCKS, INC. light and air truck for fireground support and lighting at MVAs and non-fire department incidents, according to Chief Mechanic Harm Boskers. The vehicle is maneuverable in tight areas and the body design provides maximum storage.

INTERNATIONAL 4400 chassis with 243-inch wheelbase and five-seat cab;

INTERNATIONAL DT 530 300-hp diesel engine with ALLISON 3000 EVS automatic transmission;

• 18-foot non-walk-in body with ROBINSON roll-up compartment doors;

BAUER K220 breathing air compressor and 4,500-psi booster system; six-cylinder, 6,000-psi air cascade system; three-hole fill station; and spare bottle storage rack;

FREEDOM III rear awning;

• four HANNAY reels (two electric cord and one high- and one low-pressure air); and

• light and power with LIMA 40-kw PTO generator, two SVI Command Lights, and six WHELEN fixed scene lights on body (four on sides, two rear).

The Boynton Beach (FL) Fire Rescue Department rides a crew of three (including two paramedics) in its MEDTEC rescue unit/ambulance. EMS Coordinator Michael Landress, EMT-P, explains that all three can ride in the cab to the incident, and the two paramedics can care for the patient in the rear en route to the hospital. The module’s size allows adequate room for ALS.

The Edgecomb (ME) Fire Department designed this E-ONE apparatus with a large water tank for use as a pumper or tanker in its rural community, explains Chief Barry Johnston.

• four wheel well sleeves for spare SCBA cylinders; and

E-ONE rack with 2,500-gallon FOL-DA-TANK.

The Boltonville (WI) Fire Department designed its MARION rescue truck with a large body since it serves a rural area and carries most of the turnouts on the apparatus, Firefighter Daryl Pree says. The department also uses the vehicle as a command post and for rehab.

The Keasbey Fire Department in Woodbridge Township, New Jersey, designed this KME pumper with a short wheelbase for accessing tight areas and to support other units, explains Chief Chris Lelong.

ROBINSON roll-up compartment doors and four wheel well sleeves for spare SCBA cylinders; and

• light and power with ONAN eight-kw hydraulic generator and two FRC telescoping floodlights.

In Glenwood Landing, New York, the Glenwood Volunteer Fire Company’s SEAGRAVE Mean Stick quint replaced a pumper that had a 50-foot telescoping waterway. According to former Chief Arthur Giardina, the department covers an industrial waterfront, a distribution terminal, and residential and estate homes.

• light and power with HARRISON eight-kw hydraulic generator and six FRC floodlights (two behind cab, two on body, and two at aerial tip).
