The Natchez-Adams County Airport, Natchez, Mississippi, uses this CRASH RESCUE EQUIPMENT SERVICE quick-attack unit as a rapid intervention vehicle to meet FAA requirements for Category 4, FAR Part 139, Airport, meeting Index “A,” says Clint Pomeroy, airport director of aviation.

Features/Equipment:

  • CAV-5300 package on FORD F-550 XL, Super Duty 4 × 4 chassis with 164.8-inch wheelbase and two-seat cab;
  • FORD 6.0L Power Stroke diesel engine with automatic transmission;
  • DARLEY 2½ AGE 34 BS single-stage, 80- to 180-gpm pump (with 34-hp BRIGGS & STRATTON engine) with Hydrochem technology, one-inch twin agent hoseline, 1¾-inch crosslay, and AKRON Fire Fox bumper turret with WILLIAMS Hydrochem nozzle;
  • 500-pound dry chemical tank;
  • PLASMAC 300-gallon water and 40-gallon foam tanks;
  • ROBINSON roll-up compartment doors;
  • CRASH RESCUE EQUIPMENT SERVICE ladder rack; and
  • two FRC telescoping floodlights midship.

The Munich (ND) Fire Department required a truck for pump-and-roll capability as well as for stationary pumping. Chief Bruce Wirth says this FORT GARRY FIRE TRUCKS apparatus serves as a pumper and a tanker and is used for field fires and other applications.

  • STERLING Acterra chassis with 253-inch wheelbase and three-seat cab;
  • CUMMINS ISC 330-hp diesel engine with ALLISON 3000 EVS automatic transmission;

The Huntington Valley (PA) Fire Department designed this W.S. DARLEY quick-attack primarily for accident and other rescue response, explains Chief Owen Berkebile. It is also used as a brush unit. The small size enables it to get into some driveways where full-size apparatus cannot. It is first-out on accidents and second-out on structure and brush fires.

  • CUMMINS 6.7L diesel engine with DODGE automatic transmission;
