APPARATUS DELIVERIES

The Sterling (VA) Fire Department uses these two SMEAL quints primarily as first-due engines on structure fires, but they can also perform as trucks if needed on the scene. Assistant Engineer Justin D. Childs says that with the density of lightweight construction in most of the area, the quints can rapidly deploy elevated streams for exposures and provide access to and removal from upper floors.

The Fire Department of New York (FDNY) has received several SEAGRAVE tractor-drawn aerial ladder trucks. Tom McDonald, assistant commissioner of the Fleet Maintenance Division, says the trucks are assigned in areas with narrow streets and also have a narrow-width cab and short mirror brackets to enter and exit the stations.
