The Monroe Township (NJ) Fire Department operates this EMERGENCY ONE quint. Chief James J. Beebe says the department needed an aerial ladder to address new developments and wanted to have the versatility of a quint.
Features/Equipment:

  • Cyclone II chassis with a 221-inch wheelbase and six-seat cab with medical cabinet;
  • DETROIT Series 60 500-hp diesel engine with ALLISON 4000 EVS automatic transmission;
  • HALE Qmax single-stage, 2,000-gpm pump with HYPRO Foam Pro 2002 system, six-inch front intake, 2 1/2-inch front bumper discharge with 1 3/4-inch line, and three crosslays (two 1 3/4-inch, one 2 1/2-inch);
  • UPF 350-gallon water and 20- and 30-gallon foam tanks;
  • 75-foot rearmounted aerial ladder with 500-pound tip load, 16-foot outrigger spread, and AKRON StreamMaster ladderpipe;
  • ROBINSON roll-up compartment doors and four wheel well sleeves for spare SCBA cylinders;
  • HOLMATRO rescue tools; and
  • light and power with ONAN 10-kw hydraulic generator, four HAVIS SHIELDS floodlights (two brow, two tripod), four HAVIS SHIELDS COLLINS FX-12 spot/floodlights on ladder, and one HANNAY electric cord reel.


The Putnam Valley (NY) Fire Department responds this KME rescue pumper first due to one side of its district for fires (except for brush fires) and rescue calls, explains Second Assistant Chief Adam J. Savino. The unit also covers part of a state highway.

  • INSTA CHAIN ice chains;
  • ZICO ladder rack;
  • SAFETY VISION rear back-up camera; and
  • light and power with SMART POWER 10-kw hydraulic generator, WILL BURT Night Scan, HAVIS SHIELDS brow light, and two HANNAY electric cord reels.


The Irving (TX) Office of Emergency Management uses this LDV, Inc., incident command vehicle to deploy to any major emergency in the Dallas/Fort Worth region, explains Pat McMacken, emergency management coordinator. The unit has unified command capability and a modular design that allows component upgrades without replacing the entire system.

  • three 25-foot interior telescopic pneumatic masts, each with 40 feet of cable;
  • twin KOHLER 20-kw diesel generators, WILL BURT Night Scan, and two HAVIS SHIELDS telescoping floodlights.
