The Blackwood, NJ, Fire Company #1 has recently taken delivery of a 1985 Hahn Custom Pumper. It has a 1,500-gpm single-stage Hale pump with a 750-gallon water tank. The engine is powered by a 6V92-TA Detroit diesel with an Allison HT-740 automatic transmission. It is also equipped with a Hale 3,500-watt portable generator. A unique feature is that all stripping and lettering is reflective Scotchlite.

The Taylor and Trenton, MI, Fire Departments took delivery of this Quint Fire Apparatus from Pierce Manufacturing. Features include: an all-aluminum cab and body, 475-hp 8V92TA Detroit turbo diesel, and Allison HT-740 automatic transmission. The units are equipped with a Waterous CMU 1,750-gpm two-stage pump with a 27,000-Btu pump heater. The trucks also feature: a 75-foot hydraulically operated ladder with a 1,000-gpm automatic nozzle controlled at turntable and pump panel, 85 feet of ground ladders, and a 300-gallon water tank.

Fort Lauderdale, FL, Fire-Rescue is operating two pumpers built by Quality Manufacturing on Mack Model CF chassis. They have a wheelbase of 166 inches. The pumpers have a Waterous Model CYMB two-stage 1,000gpm pump with a 500-gallon water tank and a 50-gallon foam tank. The engine is a Mack Model E6-260, 672-cubic inch diesel, and the transmission is an Allison Model MT-644 automatic.

The Swoyersville, PA, Fire Department Hose Company No. 2 has taken delivery of a Darley Custom Pumper, which is built on a Hendrickson 1871S chassis, powered by a Detroit V-8 turbo diesel (275 hp). The pump is the Champion Model LDM single-stage midship. It is rated at 1,500 gpm. Special pump features include: a Darley relief valve built into the manifold to serve as a pressure regulating system; a Darley electric primer; and the Darley-designed brushed stainless steel control panel.

The West Springfield, MA, Fire Department has placed in service a 95-foot platform ladder truck built by Emergency One on a Hurricane chassis. It features a Hale QSMF 1,250-gpm pump and has a four-inch pre-piped waterway feeding an Akron 3475 hydraulic nozzle of 250-1,000-gpm range. It has a 200-gallon water tank with 200 feet of booster hose. The apparatus has a Detroit 8V-92TA diesel engine with Allison Model HT 740 automatic transmission.

This refurbished 3,000-gallon tanker was recently delivered to Evergreen, CO, Fire Department by Applied Engineering and Supply. The new fire body holds three individual inter-connected 1,000gallon tanks. These tanks are uniquely isolated, allowing full frame twist and flex even in off-road conditions. The chassis is a 74 Kenworth, powered by an 8V71T/HT750. The conversion includes a Jacobs Electronic Driveline Retarder and a Darley 750-pto pump.

Two Workers Killed, Another Injured in Explosion at Atlanta Delta Air Lines Facility

Two workers were killed and another seriously injured in an explosion Tuesday at a Delta Air Lines maintenance facility near the Atlanta airport.
