The Yankton (SD) Fire Department designed this SMEAL quint to operate at structure fires and as a resource on rescue missions as needed, explains Chief Tom Kurtenbach. The camera and wireless monitors on the platform allow a remote operation without personnel in the platform if the need arises.

- SPARTAN Gladiator chassis with 250-inch wheelbase and six-seat cab;
- CUMMINS ISX 15 600-hp diesel engine with an ALLISON 4000 EVS automatic transmission;
- WATEROUS CS single-stage, 2,000-gpm pump with three crosslays (two 1¾-inch and one 2½-inch);
- UPF 300-gallon water tank;
- 100-foot platform with 18-foot outrigger spread, 1,250-pound dry and 500-pound wet payloads;
- two TFT Monsoon monitors with wireless remote control;
- PRO-VISION camera in the platform;
- eight wheel well sleeves for spare SCBA cylinders;
- ROM roll-up compartment doors; and
- light and power with an ONAN 10-kw hydraulic generator, FRC lights on the platform and body, and one HANNAY electric cord reel.
The Bridgeton (NJ) Fire Department provides the technical rescue unit for Cumberland County. Battalion Chief Kevin Scarlato says this SEAGRAVE rescue truck was designed to hold equipment formerly carried on a large trailer and a smaller, overloaded rescue vehicle.
