Apparatus Deliveries

>> This SMEAL pumper is one of two that is placed in service in the Cleveland (OH) Fire Department. Assistant Chief Patrick Kelly says that they have two-stage pumps and a low hose bed. The cabs are slightly larger to accommodate additional equipment carried in the first responder cabinet.

Cleveland (OH) Fire Department

Features/Equipment:

  • SPARTAN Metro Star LFD chassis with 194-inch wheelbase and six-seat cab with medical cabinet and 10-inch raised roof;
  • CUMMINS ISC 350-hp diesel engine with ALLISON 3000 EVS automatic transmission;
  • miscellaneous storage in front bumper;
  • HALE Qtwo two-stage, 1,500-gpm pump with two 1¾-inch crosslays, rear 2½-inch discharge, one-inch booster reel, and AKRON Apollo deck gun;
  • ROM roll-up compartment doors (left side and rear) and three wheel well sleeves for spare SCBA cylinders; and
  • MEDTRONIC AED.

>> The Exeter (NH) Fire Department protects a suburban area which includes a limited access highway, a railroad line, industrial business, and a hospital. Chief Brian D. Comeau says the department’s E-ONE pumper is its first-due attack engine and its second-due extrication unit. The pumper also responds with the department’s ambulance to medical calls and is advanced life support equipped.

Exeter (NH) Fire Department

  • Cyclone II chassis with 207-inch wheelbase and five-seat cab with 12-inch raised roof and medical cabinet;
  • CUMMINS ISL 450-hp diesel engine with ALLISON 4000 EVS automatic transmission;
  • HALE Qmax single-stage, 1,500-gpm pump with 1½-inch front bumper line, three 1¾-inch crosslays, and AKRON Apollo monitor;
  • E-ONE 780-gallon water tank;
  • ROM roll-up compartment doors and five wheel well sleeves for spare SCBA cylinders;
  • HOLMATRO rescue tools;
  • MEDTRONIC LifePak 12 AED; and
  • light and power with WESTERBEKE 5.7-kw diesel generator, WILL BURT Night Scan, two FRC brow lights, and one HANNAY electric cord reel.

    >> The Russell County (KS) Fire District 5 protects a rural area of 216 square miles with two small towns and many farms. Chief Tracey Kuntzsch says the department’s WEIS FIRE & SAFETY vehicle is first-out for grass and structure fires as well as for medical calls. The small size allows the department to get onto off-road properties that have soft ground and hilly terrain.

    Russell County (KS) Fire District 5

    Features/Equipment:

    • FORD F-550 Super Duty 4 × 4 chassis with 165-inch wheelbase and two-seat cab;
    • FORD 6.7L turbo diesel engine with automatic transmission;
    • Pump-and-roll capability;
    • HALE HPX 275B35 pump with 274-gpm rating, 2.1 Foamlogix, Class “A” foam injection system, two one-inch whip lines, one-inch HANNAY booster reel, 1½-inch preconnect, and TFT Tornado bumper turret;
    • two sleeves for spare SCBA cylinders;
    • ZOLL AED; and
    • two FRC telescoping floodlights.
