Apparatus Deliveries

BY JOHN M. MALECKY

>> Fire Company 4 of the Garfield (NJ) Fire Department responds with this SPARTAN ERV tractor-drawn quint. Chief John Kopacz says the station has no pumper, and the quint design affords better versatility if the apparatus arrives first on scene. The tractor drawn design provides better maneuverability on the town’s narrow streets.

>> The Farmington (NM) Fire Department protects a city with numerous oil and other industrial properties. Captain Dave Doudy says that because of this, the department designed its three SEAGRAVE pumpers with larger pump and water tanks as well as a foam system. Because of sand storms, the department specified rescue style, pan-type side doors on the body. It also has compartment lighting for better visibility at night and an exterior tank level water gauge that can be read remote from the apparatus.
