  • FORD F-550 Super Duty 4 x 4 chassis with 176-inch wheelbase and five-seat cab;
  • FORD 6.7L Power Stroke diesel engine with automatic transmission;
  • 10-foot rescue body with front transverse compartment and ROM roll-up compartment doors;
  • HURST rescue tools;
  • PHYSIO CONTROL AED; and
  • lighting with two FRC telescoping floodlights behind cab and two WELDON fixed scene lights at rear.

Features/Equipment:

  • SPARTAN Gladiator LFD chassis with 186-inch wheelbase and five-seat cab with a 10-inch raised roof and Roll-Tex rollover protection system;
  • CUMMINS ISL 450-hp diesel engine with ALLISON 3000 EVS automatic transmission;
  • WATEROUS S100 single-stage, 1,500-gpm pump with Eclipse CAFS, two 1¾-inch speedlays (two-inch plumbing), 2½-inch speedlay in transverse front compartment, front bumper 2½-inch discharge reduced to a 1¾-inch trashline, and a rear one-inch booster reel;
  • all above discharges, except for LDH and the booster line, are CAFS capable. The booster line is for Class “B” foam;
  • UPF 750-gallon water and 25-gallon Class A and Class B foam tanks;
  • three triple and one single spare SCBA cylinder compartments to hold a total of 10;
  • INSTA-CHAIN tire chains; and
  • light and power with a SMART POWER six-kw hydraulic generator, WILL BURT Night Scan, eight WHELEN fixed scene lights (six on body and two brow on cab), and two additional on sides of cab for entry/egress illumination.

>> The Sedgwick County (KS) Fire Department designed its two SMEAL pumpers with large water tanks to provide fire protection in areas without hydrants, explains Division Chief Buddy Pressnell. The pumpers provide a rated pumper with CAFS capability to all alarms. They are used secondarily as water tenders for shuttles and also respond to medical calls and carry rescue tools.

  • HALE Qmax single-stage, 2,000-gpm pump with Foamlogix 5.0 system, six-inch front intake, three crosslays (two 1¾-inch and one 2½-inch), 1½-inch front bumper line, and TFT Hurricane RC deck gun with Extenda-Gun;
  • UPF 2,250-gallon water and 10-gallon Class A and 15-gallon Class B foam tanks;
  • ROM roll-up compartment doors and seven wheel well sleeves for spare SCBA cylinders;
  • SMEAL ladder and folding tank racks;
  • 3,000-gallon FOL-DA-TANK;
  • HOLMATRO rescue tools;
  • PHYSIO CONTROL AED; and
  • light and power with an ONAN 10-kw hydraulic generator, three FRC floodlights (one brow and two on cab), two ROM telescoping floodlights behind the cab on tripods, six WHELEN fixed scene lights on body, and one HANNAY electric cord reel.
