The Pampa (TX) Fire Department specified this SPARTAN ER platform to protect the community’s economic/industrial infrastructure, says Captain Kasey Presson. The platform was a demonstration model that had designs suitable to the department. Because the platform was already built, this eliminated the wait-time for its construction. It is a second-out vehicle subject to be first out at the officer’s discretion for extrications, technical rescues, and other types of incidents.

• Sirius chassis with a 250-inch wheelbase and a six-seat cab;
• CUMMINS ISX 15 600-hp diesel engine;
• WATEROUS CSU single-stage, 2,000-gpm pump with three crosslays (two 1¾-inch and one 2½-inch);

The Deep Creek Volunteer Fire Company, McHenry, Maryland, replaced two apparatus with this 4 GUYS rescue pumper. Chief Jason King says the unit has large side and upper compartments to store equipment for firefighting and rescue as well as a medium-sized cab and a smaller dimension pump to reduce overall length for response in the mountainous region.

The Deptford Township (NJ) Fire Department placed in service this third-generation foam pumper built by KME. Battalion Chief Jeff Pfeiffer says that the township has several highways passing through it with an abundance of vehicles transporting hazardous cargo, hence the foam unit. It was designed with a pump capable of flowing large amounts of water.

• Predator XLFD chassis with a 263-inch wheelbase and a 10-inch raised-roof cab with eight seats;
