Dover Township (NJ) Fire Department District 1 designed its PIERCE pumper with a short wheelbase for tight residential streets and rear preconnected lines for firefighter safety on major highway calls, according to Commissioner James Stendardo.

The Oneida-Wataga (IL) Fire Department specified its ALEXIS tanker with a short wheelbase for maneuverability and a large tank because of the limited number of hydrants in its coverage area, reports Chief Earl Sandry.

The Randolph Volunteer Fire Department in Guys Mills, Pennsylvania, uses its EMERGENCY ONE pumper-tanker to move water on rural roads, according to Chief Vern Vantassel. The jurisdiction is 60-percent rural.

The Anchorage (AK) Fire Department specified a powerful engine with its KME tanker to climb mountain roads, according to Battalion Chief Mark S. Hall. The metropolis is surrounded by wilderness that includes the Chugach National Forest.

The Old Town (ME) Fire Department’s SMEAL pumper responds to all structure fires, rescues, and critical EMS calls, explains Chief Charles Brush. He says it has a large water tank and Class A foam needed for a mixture of hydranted/nonhydranted areas, roll-up doors, plus a top-mount pump panel for safety on interstate highway operations.

The Yellow Creek (GA) Fire Department protects a rural jurisdiction with old farm dwellings and new homes built into the back-wooded areas, explains Chief Elmer Barrett. He says this CRIMSON pumper was designed for maneuverability and with a large water tank to serve the area.

The Show Low (AZ) Regional Airport Fire Department uses this CRASH FIRE EQUIPMENT SERVICE twin-agent firefighting vehicle as a quick response unit. Chief Ben Owens explains it is also available for response into the city on mutual aid.

The East Farmingdale Volubteer Fire Department in Farmingdale, New York, designed this SEAGRAVE pumper for general firefighting with emphasis on foam capability, explains Assistant Chief Richard Welliver.

The Shelby Township (MI) Fire Department designed this SUTPHEN pumper with CAFS to minimize water damage at fires, explains Lieutenant Mike Myny. He says the pumper answers vehicle accident and EMS calls as well as alarms in residential and commercial occupancies.
