The Kitchener Fire Department


in Ontario, Canada, designed its SVI TRUCKS rescue unit to meet the present and future needs of the city. Division Chief of Apparatus and Equipment Harry Holst says the department’s Apparatus and Equipment Committee made these determinations.

The Gearhart (OR) Fire Department


uses its BRAUN-NORTHWEST rescue/salvage truck for salvage, to respond to motor vehicle accidents, and to transport patients to an ambulance from the rough forestland and beach terrain, according to Chief Bill Eddy.

The Long Beach (CA) Fire Department’s


seven SEAGRAVE pumpers, according to Chief Terry Harbour, are designed for general firefighting. One is a rescue pumper and one has a short wheelbase to fit in the station.

uses its MARION BODY WORKS rescue truck mainly for vehicle extrication and wildland firefighting. First Lieutenant Greg Sanderlin explains that the department uses a floating pump from which to operate a hoseline.
