The fire that broke out at a popular Sea Isle City restaurant Wednesday night caused the roof to cave in, according to a statement posted on social media by the restaurant’s owner.

“We’re heartbroken to share that Casa Taco was engulfed in flames, and the roof collapsed in,” HiYT Development posted Wednesday night on social media on behalf of the restaurant’s owner, Victor Loaeza.

Images and video from the scene posted on social media showed flames rising from the restaurant Wednesday.

The staff at Casa Taco reported a fire at the restaurant at 5:06 p.m. Wednesday, authorities said in press release.

Sea Isle City emergency responders arrived at the restaurant on Park Road one minute later to find the restaurant already evacuated, authorities said.

Firefighters checked to confirm the entire building was evacuated and Sea Isle City police evacuated adjacent buildings as a precaution, authorities said.

Fire departments from Avalon, Marmora, Ocean City, Ocean View and Strathmere responded to the scene as well, and the fire was under control within an hour, according to officials.

No injuries were reported, but Casa Taco sustained extensive damage while a connected restaurant, Casino Pizza, was damaged in the fire as well. Both restaurants were the only two businesses in the commercial building at 4210 Park Road, officials said.

The fire is currently under investigation by the Sea Isle City Police Department along with the Cape May County and state fire marshals.

“The most important thing is that everyone is safe,” Loaeza said in the post Wednesday. “We can’t thank our fire departments and emergency personnel enough for their quick response and bravery. We’ll keep you updated as we move forward.”

Loaeza did not immediately return a request for comment Thursday. The phone number for Casino Pizza was inoperable Thursday.
