Aug. 7—The family of Ty Voth, the 27-year-old Wichita firefighter who died fighting an Aug. 1 house fire, has had a couple memorials set up for people to donate.

The memorials are through the Wichita Firefighters Charitable Fund Donation and the Wichita Police & Fire Foundation. Funds can be sent to either organization or done online.

The charitable fund, which is supported by the fire union, raises money for a few different causes, including one that buys coats for students at an area school and the honor guard.

Ted Bush, president of the Wichita Fire Department’s union, said he assumes there will be talk with the charitable fund board about using the funds to do something special in honor of Voth.

Amy George Lumry, executive director of the WPFF, also expects that something special will be done with donated funds to honor Voth. She said the memorial was set up yesterday and they’ve received several donations so far.

“They are going to find something great for this hero,” she said, adding it’s too early to know yet what that will be.

A funeral is being held Friday at Park City Arena, previously known at Hartman Arena.

Donations through the charitable fund can be made online at shorturl.at/wLXJU or with the WPFF at shorturl.at/rx9v8. Both have an area where it can be addressed in memory of Ty Voth. Donations can also be sent to their locations at 428 N St. Francis for the charitable fund and PO Box 782736 for the WPFF. Make sure the donations mention that it’s in memory of Ty Voth.

Voth, a five-year veteran of the Wichita Fire Department, collapsed fighting a house fire in Haysville. His cause of death is still pending carbon monoxide and toxicology testing, which could take several weeks. The fire was ruled accidental.

A GoFundMe was also set up by Voth’s childhood church to help support his family. The fundraiser can be found at shorturl.at/z0x5w.
