Cobb County Fire crews rescued a man out of a 50-foot-deep well in Austell early Friday morning.

According to a Friday Facebook post from the fire department, the man fell while looking for a lost cellphone in the woods.

Video shows a rescue crew member descending down the well on a rope that was anchored to nearby trees. The man was lifted from the well first and loaded onto a stretcher before he was transported to a nearby hospital.

Public Information Officer Stephen Bennett said the extent of the man’s injuries are unknown at this time.

”Our technical rescue crews are trained and experienced in rescuing victims in confined space areas like this old abandoned well,” the post reads.
