Firefighters Respond to Gas Explosion, Collapse in D.C.

Firefighters responded Thursday to a gas explosion and building collapse in Washington, D.C.

One civilian was reportedly injured by flying debris from the incident, which occurred in the 1200 block of Marion Barry Avenue Southeast. One building had collapsed entirely and another was damaged in the blast.

Approximately 20 units and 100 fire department personnel were operating at the two-alarm incident a little after noon.

The incident comes one week after a major explosion at the Sandman Signature Hotel in downtown Fort Worth, Texas, that left 21 people injured.
