According to a report from ABC7, a member of the Chicago (IL) Fire Department (CFD) is recovering but in good condition after falling through a floor while extinguishing a fire on the city’s South Side Friday morning.
Heavy fire and smoke erupted on the second floor of the building at South Champlain Avenue and East 73rd Street just before 1:15 a.m. in Chicago’s Park Manor neighborhood.
After the incident, the crew member was removed from the building on a stretcher, but CFD officials said he’s in good condition and recovering at University of Chicago Medical Center.
No other injuries were reported, although one person has been displaced, according to the Chicago Police Department.
The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
