Three Dead in KY House Fire

According to a report from WLKY, three people pulled from a Crescent Hill house fire by Louisville (KY) Fire Department (LFD) crews Sunday night have died.

The LFD said one man and woman in their 50s and another in her 80s have died after the incident in the 200 block of Kennedy Court, off Frankfort Avenue. All three victims died at a local hospital. No firefighters were injured.

LFD Lt. Col. Jason Colonel Golladay said fire crews arrived to neighbors alerting them to trapped occupants with heavy fire on the second floor that was extending to the third. The LFD’s initial crew pulled one victim within two minutes of arrival.

The names and exact ages of the victims have not been released.

LFD Chief Greg Frederick said the call for the incident came in at around 7:13 p.m. Sunday, and more than 60 firefighters arrived to fight the flames.

Golladay also said that, because of the LFD’s crews prioritizing life safety, the fire had more time to spread. He said rescue operations started immediately.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Officials said an inspection at the home was conducted in October 2022, and all smoke alarms and detectors were found working at the time.
