Breda, IA (March 2, 2023) – The well-known saying ‘third time’s a charm’ holds true for the Enfield Fire Company (EFC) in Ithaca, New York. The upstate-New York fire department recently accepted delivery of its third apparatus built by Iowa-based manufacturer Toyne, Inc., further bolstering its emergency response capabilities.
Ithaca, home to Ivy League university Cornell and Ithaca College, is located on Cayuga Lake in New York’s Finger Lakes region, and as of 2021, had a population of nearly 32,000 residents. An integral part of Tompkins County, the Enfield Fire Company is a one-station volunteer fire department with more than 50 members that provides fire and emergency response efforts.
EFC’s latest rig is a bolted painted stainless steel Toyne Pumper that was fitted with a Spartan Gladiator LFD with 10″ raised roof chassis. Powering the apparatus is a Cummins ISX15 565 HP engine and an Allison 4000 EVS transmission.
