MI Firefighters Rappel Injured Worker Five Stories Down Office Building

According to a report from FOX2, the Southfield (MI) Fire Department (SFD) rescued a worker who was injured atop a five-story office building Thursday by rappelling him down.

SFD Lieutenant Zach McKee said it was the first time in his 16 years of training for such an event that he’s had to perform it.

The worker fell off a ladder while he hung banners on top of the office near Northwestern and Evergreen. After arriving on scene, SFD firefighters had to rappel the worker down from the building.

The worker was transported to a local hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
