According to a report from CBS SF, more than 100 firefighters were on scene at a massive three-alarm that erupted inside a large San Leandro, California, warehouse thought to be housing a marijuana grow operation.
Alameda County Fire (ACF) officials dispatched crews at around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday on reports of the fire at 139th and Washington Avenues.
The response quickly grew to three alarms. Fire crews eventually needed to go defensive, dousing the flames from outside the heavily fortified structure.
An incident commander on scene said the warehouse is believed to have been used for marijuana cultivation, but that crews had yet to confirm this. The warehouse was fortified with additional security doors and gates, making it nearly impossible for crews to make entry.
One firefighter was sent to the hospital with minor injuries.
AFD crews were expected to be on scene throughout Wednesday morning, working to extinguish potential hot spots.
