According to a report from CBS4, a fire at a waste management transfer station in Englewood, Colorado, Monday evening greatly impacted the air quality in sections of the Denver metro area Tuesday morning.
Area residents were reporting a “smoky” smell and haze in the air when they awoke in the early-morning hours.
The Denver Fire Department (DFD) responded to the incident at around 6 p.m. Monday at 2400 W. Union. Englewood (CO) Police Department confirmed that fire crews were still on scene at the facility at the start of day on Tuesday.
Initially, DFD confirmed that two structures were involved at Waste Management in Englewood, which also affected power lines. One facility worker was treated by responding medical units.
No other information was available regarding the amount of time the fire may impact air quality or when crews might clear the scene.
